How To: Add Flip 3D To The Windows Vista Right Click Context Menu

Flip3D is one of the most notable feature of Microsoft Windows Vista operating system,which gives you a pop-up preview of all your open windows.In Flip 3D the open programs actually glide past you on your Windows Vista desktop in a cascading style, moving as you move the scroll wheel on your mouse.You can click on any window in the line to open it fully to work on.To activate Windows Vista Flip 3D or Windows Flip mode, other than using Window Switcher button in Quick Launch bar or pressing “Win+Tab” keyboard shortcut.Use the Ctrl button to freeze the windows and use the Shift button to switch through the windows in opposite direction.

It is also possible to add a Windows Flip 3D option to right click contextual menu in Windows Vista by a simple registry trick.

  • Type “regedit” in the Windows Vista Start Menu Search box or in Run dialog box and hit enter.
  • Click “Continue” for the annoying UAC(User Account Control) prompt.
  • Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellx\ContextMenuHandlers

  • Right click on “ContextMenuHandlers” and create the new key and rename it as “Windows Switcher”.
  • In the right side pane of “Windows Switcher” key, right click on “Default” and select “Modify”.
  • Type in {3080F90E-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257} (with brackets) and click “OK”.
  • Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer to see the change.

Now when you right-click your Windows Vista desktop, you will have the Window Switcher option to bring up Flip 3D.

Easier Method:

Download, extract, and double-click on Flip3DContextMenu.reg to merge the registry values into the Windows registry to add a Windows Flip 3D option to right click contextual menu in Windows Vista.
