Nice tips, but I like the Windows Vista Security Center warning message if my virus definitions are not up-to-date, but I don’t like the way Vista does not let the user turn off the Windows Firewall warning message. If the user is connected to a router’s firewall then it’s fairly safe to disable the Windows software firewall. In XP it was easy, a checkbox was provided for each balloon popup warning, but in Vista you only have the option to turn all or none off. One of the workarounds to this limitation is to edit the Windows Registry key. For example, you can disable the balloon popup warning when UAC is disabled, you just need to set the key EnableLUA to 0 and it will turn off the annoying balloon message. But I am wondering where is the similar registry key to disable the balloon message when Vista’s firewall is disabled???
