You can change the name and the icon for your Network Connections in Windows Vista. This information appears in Windows Vista Network And Sharing Center and in the information that pops up when you point to the Network icon in the taskbar notification area. The network initially takes on the name of the wireless SSID or, if you join a domain, the domain name. (The default name of a wired network is Network.)

- In the “Value data” text field enter the name you would like to use
- Exit the Registry Editor
- Restart your system and you can see the name of your network icon changes.
